OCEANSIDE ----- Celebrating the positive influence of culturally diverse workforces is the theme of this month's diversity fair at Tri-City Medical Center. The Oceanside hospital invites people to join employees who will contribute food, music, entertainment and exhibits reflecting their cultural heritage at the fair, which will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital's three on-site assembly rooms. The fair is part of a month-long series of events at Tri-City to mark the hospital's Diversity Month in April. "We're trying to demonstrate that the differences we bring to the workplace make us stronger," said Robert Rivas, operations manager for the hospital's child study center in Carlsbad. Rivas, who also is chairman of the hospital employees' 26-member Diversity and Inclusion Committee, said the fair would include demonstrations on American Indian drumming, Middle Eastern belly dancing and Tibetan therapy techniques. Representatives of Latino, Filipino-American and black associations also will hold exhibits, he said.
